In the late 1980s, having passed his drivers test, my son Markus became fascinated with VW beetles, especially American modified ones called 'Cal look'. He went to all the rallies to see how it was all done and after a couple of normal beetles decided to build his own Cal look one. Luckily a school friend had become a car painter and another friend was a super artist with a spray gun.
Between them they designed the graphics. The first idea was to have a car that looked white from the front and yellow from the back with a fade between. The artist now took over and generated the gorgeous graphics on the sides. It had a super audio system that was ear splitting.
Markus entered it in several Cal Look events and won prizes with it. He had it for a couple of years before selling it to someone from Ireland who continued to exhibit it.
