Adrian's Memories
Juno & Basil
Juno was my Mother's tortoise and Basil was a cat who decided to live in my workshop.
Juno was found in a dustbin outside a petshop in Worthing by my Mum. She had a cracked shell and was bleeding so she had been disposed of. Mum took her home, cleaned her up and she recovered. That was over 50 years ago and she was quite large when found. We think she must be around 85 now - older than me.
Basil was a stray who arrived one day and stayed. Raija wouldn't let him into the house so he lived in the workshop and also next door in Diane's house.
Juno and Basil were best friends and always playing together.
Sadly a passing car got Basil who often insisted in sitting in the middle of the road, once too often.
Juno is still going strong and lives in a centrally heated insulated house on the patio.
