Copthorne Carnival
There has been a Copthorne Carnival every year since we have been living here.
Floats are built by interested groups in the village, are judged and then form a procession through the village to the village green for an afternoon of entertainment and fund raising.
The procession passes our house and I have photographed them every year. In the early days, before health and safety were such a concern there were over 30 floats, but nowadays the number is down to less than a dozen. This is due to difficulties getting insurance for such events.
A few years ago we put on an exhibition of photos taken at the carnivals in the church, all sorted into years, memory permitting.
Below is an assortment of photos taken over the years, but in no particular order.
