Shell Petroleum 1956

I was awarded the Shell Petroleum Photographic Training Scholarship in 1956.

This gave me 9 months with their photographic and public relations divisions assisting in everything from photoshoots, progress photography and darkroom work,  including a lot of colour photography and colour printing.

The studio was superbly equiped with a 10x8 Linhoff monorail camera and all the lighting equipment including studio electronic flash - rare in those days.

I also spent time in their cinema. I was just building my first tape recorder which I took in to play over the cinema sound system. It sounded superb.

This shot is taken from the half plate film negative which I still have. Sadly the emulsion has broken up and is peeling off, well it is 60 years old
