Maynard Studios, Windmill St Soho, London 1958

Maynard Studios was my first job after the Shell Scholarship. It was a central London advertising agency. We did a lot of work on the Reader's Digest Great World Atlas.

All went well until the printers strike of 1959 when it shut down.

After that I joined a camera repair company for 9 months and learnt lots including lathe turning. We often had to turn up replacement eye cups for binoculars.

After the strike Maynard Studios started up again in Poland St and I rejoined them for another year or so.

The street offenses act came into effect whilst I was there so I photographed the girls whilst they were still openly at work
